The older I get, the more I realize that being happy is a choice. It’s a choice we make each and every day. I’ve decided to choose happy and I have less and less space in my life for people who do not choose happy.
I used to love to be in on the dish from the school or the neighborhood, but I’m tired of people who choose gossip.
I used to get riled up and loud with frustrated people, but I’m tired of people who choose anger.
I used to see the dark side of every situation and thought the grass was always greener, but I’m tired of people who choose pessimism.
We get one ride on this merry – go round of life. One ride. You don’t get to buy another ticket and try to enjoy the ride on a second time around. So, why choose anything but happiness?
We all have bad days, financial difficulties, stressful children, and disagreements with spouses. Just like anyone else, I have a hard time choosing happiness on those days. But, overall I’m choosing to live my life happy and surround myself with people who are happy and optimistic because I’ve found that I like myself more when I’m around people who like themselves and who love life.
So make a choice this week to choose happy. Just a switch in your mindset can mean a world of difference in your life.
